Roadmaps to New Nuclear 2026: the nuclear industry calls on governments to act

The CSFN, represented by Maria Faury, took part in the 4th edition of the Roadmaps to New Nuclear conference. The event was held on 17-18 September in Paris, co-hosted by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE).

This annual event brought together ministers, senior government officials, industry representatives and investors. Sessions covered large-scale nuclear deployment, regulatory modernization, financing and fuel supply security.

In his opening remarks, OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann highlighted the scale of the global nuclear resurgence. Almost 80 GW of new capacity is currently under construction across 15 countries. 38 countries now support the goal of tripling global nuclear capacity by 2050.

On the sidelines of the conference, nine industry associations, including GIFEN, issued a joint statement reaffirming the industry's commitment to advancing the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The statement calls on governments to support the development of civil nuclear energy: nuclear plant life extensions, capacity uprates, restarts, and the deployment of new nuclear capacity. It also calls for strengthened international regulatory cooperation, improved access to finance, and stronger supply chains and skills.
